 a view from the trenches

I returned to Hong Kong 10 days ago after a three-month absence (and absence from this community) and have successfully made the rounds and caught up with all of my regulars. All of these providers are what I call “lifers”, meaning:

1. they have lived in Hong Kong a long time as permanent residents, coming from China

2. they are independent operators renting and in some cases living in their office, they have no boss and manage their own business

3. some are on this website, some have enough reputation they don’t advertise

4. they are all on the wrong side of 40 years, if not more

5. it’s extremely unlikely they could go into another line of work, after they “age out” of the industry

The consensus is:

1. Business is terrible

a. younger transient talent from Thailand and Russia now that borders are open

b. People have less money to spend because of the stock market, salaries being cut/not increasing, inflation of other costs

Two were in Hing Loong Building and moved. Closing of this playground has been catastrophic for many:

1. One relocated to Kam Bong for a significant rent increase (HKD 9,500 to 16,500 per month), meaning her breakeven amount each month is higher

2. One relocated to a lesser-known building in Causeway Bay, and given this is a quieter building there is less foot traffic from random “walk-ins” as compared to all the door knockers Hing Loong would attract. Basically to see her you have to have that as an objective to enter the building, and given there is Phoenix not far away where you can still do door bell survey, few people have a reason to go into that building (she told me there was no room in Phoenix anyway, and she thought it was too expensive).

This has been noticed by HK Legend in another email, more at a micro level with certain providers.

Support and patronise the older PRC talent, don't just go for the 2 week "tourist" from Thailand!

Keep on mongering

one added benefit of the HK PR wg is not having to worry about potentially been "busted". i had two incidents where i was in the room, and LE knocked on the door. the girls stopped in mid act to open the door and show their HKID. i have no idea what would happen if the provider is a "tourist" and opening the door would lead her to be detained and deported. i know technically the punter can't get into legal trouble, but i am wondering if you would have to answer questions and leave your info with the LE. anyone have experience with that?

also, the flow works both ways. some of the wg with HK PR who were more or less trapped here during the pandemic, now have the option of leaving to go elsewhere. unfortunately, many of those tend to be the younger and prettier ones. Kam bong seems to be hit the hardest by that exodus.

To add to the first section:
6. Some CANNOT afford to advertise, sometimes truggle to pay the rent, to they turn invisible. I think some are gone, retired.

7. Old recipes do not cut it.
Most are creatures of habits have been using the same instruments to advertise on the database website (and the Chinese Forum too) for ten years,
but when knowing those websites you observe with a "microscope" you can see panic! They are in denial believing that again this business will bounce back. Wrong analysis.
One who always massively used the "Weekly Poll" to advertise is now throwing her $ in the Flowers, disrupting order. (he slot there has been prioritize for ...building neighbours?)
Another one using second level "reports" on the Chinese Forum (with half baked shxt fairy tales) also jumpd into the Flower battle.
The first level "reports" on the Chinese Forum are gone, result of some IT blunders (leaving a door opened accidentally) during the "upgrade"
(the changes on those websites was anoher big factor adding to their pain)
Fake pictures are even more common (beware in Tsuen Wan)
The nickname rebranding is also another desperate attempt
...but when the pool of available money is much smaller that does not change anything, but may disrupt existing activity.
So the reaction to the sharp decrease in business triggers a visible huge panic.

Gwailoplayer had the benefits of being away for 3 months so the contrast for him was brutal, unfiltered…
but (no offense to him and any other in fact) he does not know things, in the depth, I learned (should not) over years.

Yesterday was Monday so (not punting related) shit happened. Vodka + sleeping pills. Forget it. Good night.

Tuesday: oh no! :crying:

For years, looking at the websites (Database Website and Chinese Forum, both being 99.9% Marketing oriented
unlike this Forum (while ….slightly contaminated!!!!) was “interesting”.
OK you know already I am very weird.
So my approach was: What kind of tricks / gimmicks ladies are using to advertise?
Call it curiosity, brainteasers or….learning the best practices for….need to know basis
(my wings did not yet melt down. weird).

Now watching those websites is totally depressing.
A very close friend (he is much younger but we have many similar Walk-Up “references”) on the Chinese Forum has this simple approach:
Walk-In / Shower / Bang / Walk-Out /Shower / Walk-Out (Kowloon side…while he knows many HK Island MILF))…not bothering about anything else. Some days I envy him.

Gwailoplayer was VERY soft using the world “Terrible”. It is worse, much worse and not getting better by far.

Few examples:
• Last week, badly in need of a (VEGGIE) Thai massage, I went to Causeway Bay (went there for ~1.5Y, always Veggie and great).
The first depressing news was that …after as usual a great 90mn strong Thai massage (I was in pieces …for logistical reasons.
I need really 3-4 hours hard Thai daily at this point) the lady offered a HJ! WTF Never hoped, never asked, I was depressed.
Obviously business was bad and she knew that with me (heavy tip for her skills) it was a logical ….first move.
Do I need that? NO! Could I say no to her? No, …as she clearly needed the $ to cross that line.
• After that, my plan was to go to Phoenix (just visit) for a “status report”.
One MILF, who was very dear to me, was simply GONE (back to Shenzhen?).
I saw the rise (and fame) then the fall from July 2023 (panic from her “friends”, brainwashed, uploading stupid (she is a beautiful and elegant MILF…but brainless) baby pictures (-20Y!) ,
pissing off reliable regular clients just shocked by the brainless stunt,
cannot paid the AD anymore, in dec = troubles to pay her rent
(source: one her Chinese clients knowing a lot about the background story), in march = again troubles paying her rent = NOW GONE!
• I kept walking in Phoenix to get some sense of how bad it was for MILF ladies who were great.
I was not sure if one was still there (she had really done something nice with her room, where she lives. 50s, her service is flawless.
She was In Hing Loong for a short while but maybe she tried …Kam Bong (while she does not have a strong English speaking client base).
One of you knows her in her new pad. Her name is still on the door while her AD was OFFLINE.
The next day, she switched ON her AD…probably assuming that because she was OFFLINE, I went to Phoenix to see somebody else.
Even if that sounds arrogant, considering our history it made sense, desperate sense.
Today, I saw her advertising on the top line of the Database Website (which honestly was something she used before).
• Today, I looked at the Chinese Forum PAID reports and saw a well known name (never saw her there).
Desperation at its highest…while she had (free) superior marketing tools at hand.
• Another one, great service and fun (in CWB) , is going into a total non-sense rebranding (the English nickname and her half backed webpage) making no sense at all!
That’s likely to make her regular clients wonder WTF is happening while I cannot see how the change can bring new clients, not even offset those she will lose.
• And I could go on showing desperation (and absolute stupidity) across the board.
The so-called “upgrade of the Chinese Forum di NOT help ladies at all.

For those who knew Hing Loong well, just try to check how many do still have AD ONLINE somewhere?
Covid was really a Walk In The Park for the Walk-Up.

It's much worse than terrible!
